Night at the Museum

Yesterday, I got the opportunity of going to Lates at the Science Museum. Lates is a free adult event at the last Wednesday or Friday of the month. Lates events have been held at different museums in London with a different theme each time. The theme for the Lates event last night was Braziliarty, which promoted Brazilian culture and arts. There was so much going on with a silent disco and samba lessons (which all my friends loved), human table football, a 360 flight simulator (which was great!) and many more.

I do have to confess that this was my first time at the Science museum, which is embarrassing considering I have lived in London all my life. When I saw this event I thought it was the perfect time to go (..and about time).
I had such a great night last night and I would definitely love to go to another Lates event, maybe at the British Library or the Natural History Museum.

#MusicMonday: Paloma Faith

My new obsession. I absolutely love this song! Can't get enough of it.

When I first started doing #MusicMonday posts, I promised myself that I would feature songs that were not in the charts at the time. This promise was broken numerous times and its about to be broken again.

Ever since Paloma Faith released her new album 'A Perfect Contradiction' and this song in particular to promote her album, its been like I have fallen in love with her sound all over again. Her voice plus the lyrics just go perfect together.

Paloma Faith is a British singer-songwriter and she has appeared in some films (i.e. St Trinian's). She is known for her retro 50s style and her music style is mainly soul and jazz type.
I am absolutely in love with her love and her music. Her style is so unique I wish I could recreate. Also, ( for British people) does anyone else think she looks like Billie Piper??

I would love to know what are you currently listening to. Hope you have a great Monday :)

'We Were Liars' by E. Lockhart

(Spoiler-free review)
A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.

Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.

I can't really say much about what the book is about because anyone who has read the book will never tell you the plot (an agreement we all keep). It is because of this mystery behind it (that no one ever said what the book was really about) that provided the intrigue and excitement to the book.

What I can say is that the pace of the book was good to start off with and then it drifts off and becomes really sow in the middle. When I reached this point, I lost interest and I actually considered stop reading the book altogether. But I persevered and the pace ended up picking up again. I did get a bit confused near the end and even now I'm still confused.

I did like this book and trying to find out the mystery of the story. It did also fill a hole while commuting in and out of work. The story behind it is really good, it's just that for me the book lost me and I didn't really care for the conclusion as much as I did when I started the book. This is mainly because the excitement wore off for me.

Plus, this book totally ruined Wuthering Heights for me :(

Summer Ball Countdown: Day 3 - Advance beauty treatments

Hi guys! Usually when I know I have a big day coming up that I want to look my best, I like to do certain beauty treatments in advance. This is just in case my body has some weird reaction to it and so I still would have time to recover from it. This is also because sometimes certain treatments take time for the results to show and so doing them a few days or even a week in advance gives it time.

For the past few weeks I’ve been doing teeth whitening using Pearl drops instant white toothpolish. The product claims to get up to 2 shades whiter teeth in 1 week. I haven’t been using it that often so don’t worry my teeth are not going to be ridiculously bright. I just want my teeth to look naturally white but not too white.

Microdermabrasion is a treatment that I've been having for quite a while now. At first I used to go the Skn clinic in London to get it done but recently I bought the Personal Microderm device (PMD) were it allows you to do microdermabrasion at home. The PMD removes the top thin layer of dead skin cells, in order to reveal new skin cells.  I've found that it’s a lot more inexpensive and less time-consuming then if I were to go and get it professionally done. It has taken me a few practices to get the method right but so far so good.

Another sort-of beauty treatment is the cold spoons under the eyes technique. Before I go to sleep I put two teaspoons in the freezer overnight and then in the morning I would take them out and gently press them against my skin under my eyes. This is said to reduce puffy eyes and redness. I have definitely seen results from doing this as well as reducing the appearances of dark circles under my eyes.

I would love to know other ‘beauty treatments’ that could be done or that other people are doing.

Check in tomorrow for a pamper day before the big day J

Summer Ball Countdown: Day 2 - Detox on the inside.

Hey lovelies! I can almost guarantee you that Prom/Summer ball day will involve a lot of drinking… a lot of heavy drinking. To be honest you wouldn’t expect anything less from a group of university students who have all finished their exams and three years of nonstop university hell.

With this in mind, it will probably be a good idea to do a mini detox. This way you are preparing your body for a heavy night. This might not necessary mean preparation for a night of drinking but also a long night out were you will be over doing it a bit.

What I like to do is drink lemon water every morning or when I remember to, because a lot of the time I simply forget to. I also like to find different ‘detox drinks’ on the internet, for example:

2L  water
Medium cucumber
1 lemon
Steep overnight in fridge
This is something really simple to do the night before and just really handy to have the next morning when rushing outside the house.

There is also eating plenty fruit and vegetables and all of these techniques refreshes the body and gives you glowing clear skin ready for prom day.

Summer Ball Countdown: Day 1 - Exercise

Hey guys! Ever since tickets were released for our summer ball, all my friends had been almost obsessed in wanting to get into shape for it. To be honest, so have I and me and a few of my friends have got involved in different types of sports. For example indoor rock climbing, horse riding and volleyball. At the time I didn't like my friend for dragging me along to all these different activities but now I'm so thankful because my arms are so toned.

The main area of concern for me is my stomach and so I've been doing ab crunches and ab-focused pilates in order to get that area toned and flat. A few of my favourite exercises have been  sit-ups, the plank, side to side foot taps and bicycle crunches. I've also been watching Blogilates Victoria Secret Model Ab workout on Youtube, which I love.

I feel like it's good to challenge yourself with a combination of exercises and not just one type of exercise. A variety will see more visible results.

Summer Ball Countdown - Finishing touches

Hey guys! I'm coming up to the end of my three years at university and every year we have a summer ball, which is a bit like a prom. My university summer ball is on Friday 6th June and it's fair to say that I'm super excited.

I never went to my high school prom because it was around the time that I feel out with my bestfriend. But I did go to the summer ball last year that my university held. Me and my girlfriends went together and had great fun. I'm treating this year's one as my prom because its my final one and I'm leaving university. The countdown so far has been so much fun, with choosing the perfect dress and accessories and thinking about the night itself.

I've already picked out my dress and I did make the point of snapchatting my friends a picture of the dress so that they don't get the same one or a similar colour. This happened last year where two of my friend's dresses were the same colour as mine but a different style :/
This year, I wasn't making the same mistake.

Over the next few days leading up to the day, I'll be doing blog posts specific to the last few prom finishing touches. The first post will be later today.

If some of you guys are also having your prom/ summer ball/ homecoming soon, I would love to hear some of your countdowns of what you are going to be doing :)
